HBO has ordered a second season of Youth, the comedy series starring Sharon Horgan. The renewal was announced one day after the first-season finale, which left Horgan’s character, Alex, facing personal and professional crossroads. No release timing has been announced for the new season.

Horgan said she was happy to return to the series and thanked viewers for their response, as well as the cast and creative team. Amy Gravitt, HBO’s executive vice president of programming and head of comedy series for HBO and HBO Max, praised the show’s mix of humor and emotion and said the network was pleased to bring its ensemble back.

Youth follows Alex, a 50-year-old divorcee trying to revive her love life while supporting her teenage son, who is struggling with the transition to adulthood, and keeping her career moving forward.

The series also stars Rupert Friend, Sharlene Whyte, Robbie Gee and Aran Murphy. Horgan created the show and serves as a writer and executive producer. Faye Dorn, Jim Kleverweis and Dawn Shadforth also executive produce. Shadforth directed four of the first season’s eight episodes, with Jim O’Hanlon directing the other four.
