Lenny Kravitz’s publicist has denied an online rumor claiming that the singer died aboard the Learjet that crashed in Florida on Sunday, killing all nine people on board.

“The reports are untrue and incorrect,” Kravitz’s publicist told BocaNewsNow late Sunday, rejecting the claim that the “Fly Away” singer had been traveling on the aircraft from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas.

The rumor appears to have spread after a post on X shared a purported screenshot attributed to Emily Shelton, a 21-year-old pilot who had previously attracted attention for making an emergency landing on a highway. The screenshot allegedly said Shelton would be flying Kravitz and playing his song “It Ain’t Over ’Til It’s Over” during the trip.

Shelton later clarified on TikTok that she was not the pilot involved in the crash. She said she had learned about speculation linking her to the incident and asked people to stop spreading misinformation and to respect those affected.

Confusion also followed reports that a young female pilot was among those killed. The New York Post identified the aircraft’s co-pilot as 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, who obtained her pilot’s license while still in high school.

The Associated Press reported that the business jet plunged into a South Florida neighborhood near a busy roadway in Palm Beach County. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the Federal Aviation Administration would send a team to assist the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation.
