Scarlett Johansson has described her role in The Batman Part II as a difficult one to work out, saying the part brought her “a lot of existential angst.” The character she will play in Matt Reeves’ sequel has not been revealed.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight published Wednesday, Johansson was asked which of her upcoming projects, including The Exorcist: Martyrs and The Batman Part II, took her furthest outside her comfort zone. She pointed to The Batman, explaining that the role was hard to crack, though she was unsure whether that was due to the part itself or her circumstances at the time.

Reeves confirmed in May that Johansson would join the sequel to his 2022 film, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne and Batman. Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch are also among the cast additions.

Production briefly paused in October while Reeves attended to a family matter, according to DC Studios. The film is currently scheduled to open in theaters on Feb. 18, 2028.
