Meta has hired Rich Latour as vice president of its content studio, where he will lead social and content teams within the company’s communications and public affairs division. He will report to Tucker Bounds, Meta’s head of communications and public affairs.

Latour will develop and execute Meta’s content strategy. His remit includes storytelling about the Meta brand and its impact on communities, social content featuring the company’s executives, support for product-related content with an emphasis on social media, and international social content.

He joins Meta from BlackRock, where he served as managing director and global head of content, creative and events, leading the investment firm’s global content strategy. Before that, he was Goldman Sachs’ vice president of digital content.

Latour spent nearly two decades at NBC News, including as a producer and senior producer at NBC Nightly News. His work there earned four Emmy Awards and two Edward R. Murrow Awards.

Meta’s content studio will focus on communicating the company’s story. The hire comes as Meta expands its focus on artificial intelligence and virtual and augmented reality, alongside its existing products including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
