Netflix’s latest round of layoffs has reached its U.K. operations, with Anna Mallett, the company’s vice president of physical production for the U.K. and local-language content across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, among those affected, according to a report confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

The cuts reportedly affected around 2% to 3% of employees at Netflix’s London office, which has several hundred staff members. Employees in communications and other departments were also reportedly among those who exited the company.

Netflix hired Mallett in November 2020. During her tenure, she worked on television series and films produced in the U.K. and the wider EMEA region, including Baby Reindeer, Adolescence and later seasons of the Spanish series Money Heist.

Before joining Netflix, Mallett was CEO of ITN. She had previously held the positions of group chief operating officer and managing director of production at BBC Studios.

The changes in London follow Netflix’s layoffs in mid-October, when the streaming company cut around 1,000 jobs, representing approximately 6% of its workforce and its largest round of job reductions since 2022. In the United States, some of the most senior departures included chief content officer Bela Bajaria and film chief Dan Lin. Peter Rice was appointed to replace Bajaria.

During a recent call to discuss third-quarter earnings, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said the company’s overall strategy did not require a fundamental change. He said Netflix needed to improve execution in the U.S., while emphasizing that its content was performing broadly well around the world, although U.S. growth was slower than the company wanted.

Sarandos also said Netflix was concentrating on producing more titles capable of becoming major international successes, since other territories rely on such releases to travel globally.
