Zendaya’s feathered Matières Fécales gown at the New York premiere of The Odyssey took the top spot, followed by Emma Chamberlain in custom Mugler at the Met Gala and Chase Infiniti in Thom Browne at the same event.

The publication says it compiled stylists’ top 10 choices, then ranked looks by vote count, using the voters’ rankings to break ties. The list includes one leading look per actor or actress to keep the selection varied. The survey points to Matières Fécales as a favorite among respondents, alongside designers including Matthieu Blazy at Chanel, Jonathan Anderson at Dior and Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent.

Several of the selections treat clothing as wearable art. Chamberlain’s custom rainbow Mugler dress, inspired by Impressionist painters, took 40 hours to paint and four days to dry. Infiniti’s Thom Browne gown featured 1.5 million hand-embroidered sequins and more than 600 shades of silk fringe. Teyana Taylor also made the list in a custom Thom Browne design at the Actor Awards, with a sculpted bodice assembled from more than 160 pattern pieces and a skirt decorated with over 400,000 sequins.

The survey also highlights a range of approaches to red-carpet dressing. Nicole Kidman wore a ruby-beaded Chanel gown with feathers at the Met Gala, while Charlize Theron made a sharp impression in a Dior men’s suit at the New York premiere of Apex. Other selections include Bella Hadid in Schiaparelli couture lace at Cannes, Charli xcx in Saint Laurent at the MTV Video Music Awards and Pedro Pascal in a custom Chanel tuxedo shirt at the Academy Awards.

Across the entries, stylists also singled out sheer fabrics, cutouts, lace, lingerie-inspired details, leather, feathers, close-fitting silhouettes and strong tailoring. The list includes looks worn at premieres, award ceremonies, the Met Gala, Cannes and other public appearances throughout the year.
